This is a repeat of the party witnessed two years ago at Tipitinas Uptown. These guys are still making you want to dance despite the heat, high blood pressure or injured limbs.
So, you’re not at a party -it doesn’t matter. Want to get some productive housework done? Turn them on. Enjoy the music and the instructions: Crank It, Six Million Ways to Wine (they’re not talking about grapes, Honey), Release YA Belt (Ultimate Party-Pump Me Up).
These talented youngsters, lead by Edwin Yearwood on vocals, keep the energy pumping and the mind on the Caribbean. It’s carnival time! It’s street party time! It’s do something while you listen to this time ’cause there ain’t no sitting down time, at least not the first time you listen. You just can’t sit.
Now that you’ve danced yourself stupid, sit down and listen to the words. They are a Caribbean gumbo of songs that will re-introduce you to the double meanings of the messages in Calypso, cries of the reggae spirituality and then some outright raunchy stuff that will make your jaw drop and have you laughing- Woody Wood Peeker, Hotty Hotty Gal and Horsie (Hot Zone), yet they have the ability to cool you down and turn to a heart warming ballad in the middle of it all.
The heat didn’t stop them at the Jazz Festival 99 either. There was a crowd at the Congo Square stage that was ready to lay its life on the line to get into the spirit of the carnival season of Soca and Calypso that Krosfyah creates with its live show.
