Soulful, dynamic harmonica player, singer and front man Kim Wilson continues his tradition of sticking to the tried-and-true blues he knows best on Lookin’ For Trouble. The co-founder and longtime leader of the Fabulous Thunderbirds has carved an international reputation for himself by being as much a student of the music as he is a reliable player with a track record for delivering consistently exciting live performances.
In a departure from many of his earlier releases, he includes originals he has worked up with his band mates on this album.
Wilson’s exquisite harmonica playing and soulful vocals are showcased throughout the album. But his band mates also get plenty of chances in the spotlight: guitarist Troy Gonyea, keyboardist Mark Stevens, bassist Jon Ross and drummers Steve Ramsey and Richard Innes.
The same raw, in-your-face nature of the recordings that we’ve come to expect from Wilson and his various bands—such as can be found on his Antone’s Records releases from the 1990’s—is preserved here. With artists like Kim Wilson and band out on the road, touring upwards of 200 nights a year, the roadhouse blues tradition is in good hands.
