“Every day is Mardi Gras in Heaven” is the musical argument asserted by pianist/vocalist Harry Mayronne,Jr., on this five-cut CD’s title track. The celestial realm, he speculates, has purple, green and gold clouds, no City Council to screw up the activities and Louis Armstrong leading the band. Maybe so but if Heaven is full of the sort of humorless Christians who traipse about the French Quarter on Fat Tuesday blaring Scripture from bullhorns, then maybe Hell is preferable for Carnival celebrants. As Mark Twain quipped, “Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.”
