Dami, the up-and-coming rapper from New York who has been finding his place in the New Orleans music scene for the last three years, has released his debut EP, Almost Home.
Dami’s journey to create Almost Home began in February 2023. The EP aims to create a space for Dami to reflect on his growth as an artist and an individual, influenced by his three years of living in New Orleans. He has blended his rap style with soulful and jazz-inspired elements.
At the core of Almost Home is the story of a young man’s journey of self-discovery. Dami’s lyrics and storytelling skills shine as he shares his experiences, struggles, and successes.
Dami’s artistic vision for Almost Home has been expanded through collaborations with diverse producers. This new approach is a departure from that of his previous album, The Bounce Back, created with his friend and producer Aidan Mcfate, also known as Hunnid Percent, who you may remember from Kiana Tenille’s “Let it Go”. This time around, Dami is working with producers Shuteye and E.V. Soto.
Anders Aavatsmark, also known as Shuteye., brings his background as a pianist with jazz influences to the project. Meanwhile, Sergio Soto, also known as E.V. Soto, produced “Worth it?” and the lead single, “Ain’t Gotta Know,” in collaboration with Shuteye. The partnership between Dami and these two talents has resulted in a well-rounded musical experience that blends hip-hop, soul, and jazz.
Almost Home showcases Dami’s artistic growth and willingness to explore new directions. As the world now listens to the release of his new EP, it is clear that Dami is making his mark in the evolving landscape of hip-hop and beyond.
