Until the Gulf Aid announcement today, much of the morning was spent debating Lady Gaga tickets going on sale 11 months before the show. In the office and on Twitter, we speculated about whether people who buy their tickets now will still care almost a year from now when the show finally takes place, but really, it seems like little more than a shameless attempt to strike while the iron’s hot. People love her now and will spend money on her now, so they’ll sell tickets now, even if she’s not going to deliver anything until much, much later. No one’s taking any chances that she might cool off between now and, say, January or February when you might think April tickets would go on sale. It’s a good plan in its way, and it’s yet another reason why no one but people in the music industry shed tears for the music industry.
