In response to Kate Russell’s story on ATC’s Dear New Orleans benefit album, someone wrote:
Too bad they could not get more NEW ORLEANS musicians. This is kinda carpetbagger,,,,,,,,
Of the 30 tracks, I count 10 that feature New Orleans artists, and working with what I know of the album and its tracks, there are at least 10 different New Orleans artists or bands involved. So the album has substantial local content, but really, that’s irrelevant. The dismissal of the participants as carpetbaggers suggests that the hard time Sonny gave the relief workers in Treme is hardly fiction and didn’t pass in the days after Katrina.
