Listen to our “Experience the Voodoo Experience” playlist on Spotify
Even if you’re living under a rock, you know the Voodoo Experience takes place this weekend in City Park. But even the most tuned-in of your friends are unlikely to know all of the artists performing at Voodoo. To make it easy to figure out which shows to circle on your personal Voodoo schedule, we put together a Spotify playlist that features two tracks by every Voodoo artist we could find on the free, streaming music app (if you don’t have Spotify, download it—you’ll like it. and when you’re in, check out OffBeat Magazine’s profile for more playlists we’ve compiled).
The playlist is in close-to-chronological order from Friday through Sunday, going from the beginning of the day to the end. In general, we tried to choose mostly from the artists’ most recent releases, since those should provide the best example of an artist’s current sound. In some cases of the headliners, though, we couldn’t resist reaching back for some classic cuts (considering Blink-182 as classic makes me feel old).
For more about the artists at Voodoo, we posted music videos of artists playing Friday at the Voodoo Experience. Tomorrow we’ll be posting videos of artists playing Saturday, and Friday we’ll have more videos from Sunday’s artists.
There’s also lots of Voodoo reading in the magazine this month, with a GIVERS cover story, interviews with Kim Thayil of Soundgarden and Robin Zander of Cheap Trick, and previews of Bobby Rush, Bonerama with Dave Malone, DJ Tony Skratchere, Fitz and the Tantrums, Fleur de Tease, High Ground Drifters, Jeremy Lyons & Members of Morphine, Red Baraat, and artists from Los Angeles.
