Following in the footsteps of Metallica, which released its latest album Death Magnetic as a download for fans who also play Guitar Hero, Oasis will release “Bag it Up,” “Waiting for the Rapture” and “The Shock of the Lightning” for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of Guitar Hero World Tour. The “Oasis Track Pack” will be available November 6, and the entire Dig Out Your Soul album will be available in 2009.

Two questions for contemplation: 1) There was a time when people worried that watching music videos would change how we interpreted the songs we heard; how might playing a game at the same time change the listening process? 2) Is the Guitar Hero download a way to present a sonically better musical experience than we get listening to mp3s on iPods and CDs on bookshelf and car stereos?
