The Arts District’s annual block party will return to Julia Street in the Warehouse District from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 5. As its name suggests, Whitney White Linen Night attendees are encouraged to wear white linen clothing to the event, which celebrates the city’s arts scene with exhibitions at over 20 galleries and museums. Participating establishments include the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Degas Gallery, George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts and Octavia Art Gallery, among many others.
Of course, no New Orleans party is complete without music, food and a little booze. There will plenty of that to go around at this gathering, with 25 local restaurants slated to offer cocktails and cuisine to the sounds of a variety of local performers.
Organized by the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC), Whitney White Linen Night acts as a fundraiser for the arts complex. While the main block party is free, food and beverages will need to be purchased with tickets that benefit the CAC and the Arts District New Orleans. Additionally, the CAC will keep the celebration going until midnight with a $10 after party.
