The Summer Funk: Smilin’ Myron Loses Tim Guarisco to Cancer

New Orleans lost one of its more creative and colorful musicians when Tim Guarisco lost his two year old battle with cancer at age 28. Founding member of Smilin’ Myron, the Lati-tinged funk band that consistently proved to be one of the city’s top party bands with their lengthy sets, Guarisco became an embodiment of the feeling of New Orleans. Born in Morgan City, Louisiana, Guarisco moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane University, where Smilin' Myron was born.
