Spencer Bohren
I have Spencer’s memorial program on a shrine in my office. A few days before the new Write Brothers came out; a wind came through the door and blew it onto the floor in front of me. It hasn’t moved since the day of the memorial. I’ve always admired Spencer, and felt his spirit move though me then as it did when he was still with us.

OffBeat appreciates the generous donations, we thank you all. The following are comments that were posted on OffBeat’s YouFundMe page.—Ed.
Back after the flood in ’05, OffBeat needed funds to keep going and offered a “lifetime subscription” for $200. I took one. I’m no fool! But I think it’s time for me to re-up. So I’ve made another donation now to keep the New Orleans Music Bible alive. Thanks Jan and all there.

I still love print media, and OffBeat is the highlight of my mail each month. OffBeat is the first thing I seek out when I land at MSY, and when asked for tips and tricks for a trip to NOLA, I advise others to do the same.

Small money with a lot of love to your magazine.
I’ve been to your annual award party—I think it was in January of 2005—and that changed my entire life, from being a listener to a player as well.

I believe in the power of local music journalism, I believe that OffBeat Magazine serves both musicians and the general public by providing access to information about musicians, music businesses and music happenings, which in turn develops audiences feeds both the economy while nurturing our local ecosystem. Jan [Ramsey] and Joseph [Irrera] are family, not just to me, but to countless people in Louisiana. Take care of your family, people. Donate to OffBeat and keep the Beat Alive!

Nine years ago today, my husband and I were on our way to New Orleans for our honeymoon. We were engaged in New Orleans, and it is our favorite place to travel. Upon arrival each time, we head to get something to eat and find the current OffBeat. I’m the editor-in-chief of a magazine here in Nashville and I know how hard it can be to keep the presses rolling. Doing our part to help a critical source of info in our favorite city.

Cause Gideon ain’t my kind of bible, I like this one better.

I need the magazine! And I use the cover of the Jazz Fest issue on my Fairgrounds hat, a tradition of 23 years until this year that I hope to continue in 2020. Hang in, Jan!
