I live in Minneapolis, but the day Prince died I was in New Orleans. I was listening to a local radio talk show and heard the host ask “What are your favorite Prince memories?” That’s how I found out that a former club owner, who had booked him in one of the New Orleans suburbs on his first tour, called in with that memory (maybe the club mentioned in the article). I think she said he came out in leopard skin “bikini” and boots. Sheer guts.

Ole Man River’s has a great Facebook page and near the bottom of the many posts (at least the last time I visited) was a photo of Prince at the club just as described. Those were indeed the days. —Joseph Bondi
