Despite his fairly recent popularity, Karl Denson has been a veteran on the music scene for quite some time. In 1988 he hooked up with retro-rocker Lenny Kravitz, playing on Kravitz’s first three albums before heading off on his own in 1992. Five solo jazz albums followed that found Denson in the company of such heavyweights as Jack DeJohnettte and Dave Holland.
