Anyone who has spent time in New Orleans has come to the realization that the Crescent City is a Caribbean nation. The climate, vegetation, food, language and the pace of life in general bring to mind the islands. Like nowhere else in this country, the relaxed, slow groove of Jamaican reggae music and old-style calypso is right at home here, as are the more spicy tempos of salsa and soca.
