It’s a quiet Tuesday afternoon on Frenchmen Street, during the week that was supposed to come between Jazz Fest weekends. There’s not a tourist in sight, and a few beloved spots, including the Blue Nile and the Spotted Cat, are either shut down from the hurricane or still boarded up from the pandemic. Some club doors will be opening in the evening but during the day, you can be forgiven if the old Specials hit “Ghost Town” starts running through your head.
