One stat that came out of the morning press conference at the National World War II Museum explains the urgency to open the new wing and subsequent expansions ASAP. Since the museum opened on June 6, 2000, the number of World War II veterans has dropped from 6 million to 2 million. We’re not far from a time when that generation won’t be able to tell its own stories anymore.
