They might be one of New Orleans’ top young jazz groups, but there aren’t nearly as many chances as one would like to see The Bridge Trio—Joe Dyson on drums, Max Moran on bass, Conun Pappas on keyboards—perform live. After graduating from prestigious Northeast music schools, Moran and Dyson returned to New Orleans, while Pappas stayed in New York. Now Pappas is back for the first time in months, and are playing a much-anticipated show with special guest Davell Crawford, who appears on their latest, self-titled album along with the group’s original mentor, Donald Harrison, Jr.
This video shows the three NOCCA alumni backing Harrison at a concert for the Positive Vibrations Foundation. The Bridge Trio play Snug Harbor tonight for their first gig there since January, with sets at 8 and 10 p.m. Tickets are $15.
