Friday, August 5, Spirit of the Fi-Yi-Yi and Mandingo Warriors drummer Collins “Coach” Lewis passed away at the age of 62. Saturday, August 13, a funeral procession was held for Lewis featuring the Treme Brass Band, Spirit of the Fi-Yi-Yi, Mardi Gras Indians, Million Dollar Baby Dolls, and many second liners. The procession went from the Charbonnet-Labat-Glapion Funeral Home on St. Philip St. in the Treme to St. Bernard Avenue and N. Claiborne Avenue, ending at Hunters Field.
