Who Will Take The Bean Madness Crown? Only 16 Remain…

It’s March, which means it’s Bean Madness season (there’s also some kind of college basketball thing happening, too). Krewe of Red Beans has announced only 16 chefs/restaurants remain in the 2018 tournament, which aims to find the city’s best red beans dish and raise money for two local non-profits, Anna’s Place Nola and Make Music Nola.

Defending champion Cedrick Lewis is still in the game, as are 15 other hopefuls who will move on to the “Sweet 6-bean” bracket. The full schedule of showdowns follows:

Thursday, March 22nd

Nola Boards 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Toula’s vs. Simone’s

Farmers Market Mid City – 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Chef D’z vs. Katies Restaurant

Friday, March 23rd

Kitchen Witch 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Tracy’s Irish Channel Bar vs. Queen Trini Lisa

Broad Theatre 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Jackie’s Touch of Class vs. Cedric Lewis

Saturday March 24th

Farmers Market CBD – 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Boucherie vs. Joey K’s

Terranovas – 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Three Muses vs. Buffa’s

Sunday March 25th

Bywater Bakery – 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Ma Momma’s House of Cornbread, Chicken,

and Waffles vs. Neyow’s

Starlight Lounge – 817 St. Louis – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Old Coffee Pot vs. Welty’s Deli

Once the winner of that bracket is chosen, remaining competitors will head to the “Great Pl-eight” round on March 29, the “Final Fork” on March 31 and, finally, the April 7 championship round at the Southern Food & Beverage Museum.
