The New Orleans Suspects had all their equipment stolen

The New Orleans Suspects, a musical supergroup and regular performers at the Maple Leaf Bar, had all of their equipment stolen out of their van while it was parked around the corner from the Uptown venue.

“We had nearly every piece of equipment stolen from our van/trailer this week. From keyboards to guitar amps to Willie Green’s Neville Bros custom drum kit…these thieves seemed to have gotten just about everything we own,” the band said on their GoFundMe page.

The New Orleans Suspects was established in 2009, when The Neville Brothers’ drummer, Dirty Dozen Brass Band’s lead guitarist, James Brown Band’s horn director and more musicians came together and had great chemistry. It was quite an unusual mix, so they called themselves The Unusual Suspects, which changed to The New Orleans Suspects in 2011. Their talent is undeniable.

The New Orleans Suspects have performances lined up all over the country this summer. In order to continue touring, they need to recover their stolen equipment or purchase new equipment as soon as possible. They set up a GoFundMe to raise money for this purpose. $10,000 has been raised in the last 24 hours but they are still $5,000 short of their goal.

Offbeat named The New Orleans Suspects’ most recent album, Kaleidoscoped, one of the best of 2016. They are a New Orleans band through and through, whose music is reminiscent of a unique style that can only be found in the Big Easy.
