Tonight at the CAC, the New Orleans Film Society and DJ Soul Sister are screening a recent documentary, Coming Back for More, about the influential, hit-making, and enigmatic musician Sly Stone. In the field of funk, dominated by such outlandish personalities as George Clinton and James Brown, Sly Stone has been one of the most mysterious of its foundational figures, going decades without a public appearance after releasing his last recordings in the late 1970s. Coming Back for More, which debuted in 2009, features the first interview with Stone since his heyday, as well as interviews with his friends, family, and bandmates in Sly and the Family Stone, plus original footage of the band in its prime.

The movie begins at 7 p.m. at the Contemporary Arts Center. Tickets are $5 for NOFS or CAC members and $7 general admission.
