At a party at the Harrah’s Casino Theater, Contributing Editor John Swenson won for Best Critical Review for his review of Anders Osborne’s American Patchwork, and Editor Alex Rawls, Publisher Jan Ramsey, Managing Editor Joseph Irrera and Web Editor Ben Berman won Best Email Update—“The Weekly Beat”—for the third year in a row.

The evening’s host, Rob Nelson, moved from WWL-TV to ABC World News Now in New York City, and he clearly enjoyed the opportunity to good-naturedly rip the media community he’d been a part of for so long. Also in the evening, Nola.com’s James O’Byrne paid tribute to lifetime achievement honoree Mark Schleifstein of The Times-Picayune, and Garland Robinette brought WWL’s Jim Henderson (along with a montage of his calls during the Saints’ 2009 season) to the stage to receive lifetime achievement honors as well.

In other awards, Alex Rawls came second and Jan Ramsey third in the Features Affiliated Blog category, Rawls came second in Entertainment Feature for his first look at HBO’s Treme, “To Tell the Truth”, and Rawls and Berman came second in the Best Affiliated Social Media category.
