New Orleans Bayou Steppers Second Line: Photo Slideshow

Sunday, the New Orleans Bayou Steppers Social Aid & Pleasure Club hosted their Spring 2011 second line, parading through the Bywater, Marigny and Seventh Ward neighborhoods and led by the Free Agents Brass Band. The second line featured a stop at Ernie K-Doe’s Mother-in-Law Lounge, which is currently being renovated for reopening by new owner Kermit Ruffins.

Jordan Hirsch, former director of Sweet Home New Orleans, was king and Miss Yoshiondra Williams was queen. The second line also honored Geannie Thomas, Theresa Elloie, and Nakita Shavers as well as SilenceIsViolence co-directors Tamara Jackson and Allison Padilla-Goodman

The second line started at Sound Cafe in the Bywater, went up Franklin to St. Claude Avenue, stopped at the Hi-Ho Lounge, then turned up St. Bernard Avenue, stopping at Justine’s, before turning onto Claiborne Avenue and stopping at Ernie K-Doe’s Mother-in-Law Lounge. The next stop was at The New Place on N. Derbigny Street, which then took the parade to Esplanade Avenue and Buffa’s Lounge before making its way to Frenchmen Street, stopping at d.b.a. before returning along Chartres Street back to Sound Cafe.
