Earlier this spring, the Ponderosa Stomp announced its new dates – September 24 and 25 – and its headliners: Duane Eddy, Sugar Pie DeSanto, Thee Midniters, Red Simpson and the Trashmen. Tickets for the Stomp go on sale Saturday, and organizers have fleshed out the lineup.
This year’s event celebrating the roots of rock ‘n’ roll also includes Bob Wills’ alum Johnny Gimble, rockabilly singer Huelyn Duval, swamp pop icons Johnny Allan, Warren Storm, Doug Ardoin and Bert Miller of the Boogie Kings. DL Menard plays this year with Leroy Martin and Cajun steel guitarist Harry Anselmi and Vin Bruce, and Stax soul singer Wendy Rene be there as well.
Roy Head returns to the Stomp along with Barbara Lynn, Lil’ Buck Sinegal and the Top Cats with Stanley Dural (Buckwheat Zydeco) on organ, Lazy Lester, Joe Clay, and Jay Chevalier. Honeyboy Edwards leads the blues portion of the Stomp, along with Tommy Brown and Young Jesse.
