[UPDATE] Last week, Marva Wright passed away from complications due to the strokes she suffered in 2009. Services for Wright have been scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. She will lie in state  on Tuesday from noon until 6 p.m. at a location yet to be determined, then there will be a musical tribute to Wright at Gallier Hall from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church (1807 Lasalle St.).

Wright’s viewing will take place Tuesday from noon to 6 p.m. at Gallier Hall. Performers at the musical tribute will include the BMWs (Band of Marva Wright: Benny Turner, Keiko Komaki, Jeffrey Alexander and June Yamagishi), Charmaine Neville, Davell Crawford, Rockin’ Dopsie, Jr., the Wild Magnolias and more.
